If entrepreneurs consider the entire cycle in their strategies and the resulting daily activities, regenerative agriculture and the regenerative economy become possible. Healthy soil provides healthy food and also serves as a water filter, water reservoir and habitat. Because of the way people now farm and seal the soil, we lose more fertile soil every day than we gain.

EARTH CARE - Our humus building project

A strategic project at DATTELBÄR is the redesign of a date farm in Saudi Arabia according to permaculture principles. Dominik, with his experience as a master landscape gardener and permaculture designer, is making a significant contribution to the inspiration and implementation of regenerative agriculture.

In collaboration with Gerald Dunst and the company SONNENERDE ( www.sonnenerde.at ), we have begun to process the palm fronds that accrue in large quantities on the date farm into biochar in order to produce Terra Preta for humus formation. On several hectares of test areas, we are experimenting with different plantings under the date palms according to the forest garden principle in order to establish plant communities, build fertile soil and save water.

This transforms the monocultures into areas of high biodiversity that provide habitat for a wide range of species and thus contribute significantly to the health of soil, water and air. It also establishes a root and mycorrhizal system that allows the plants on the farm to communicate and support each other.

When we use resources carefully, we consciously decide to use them sensibly and sustainably. We use them in a way that promotes the bigger picture and sets an example of FAIR SHARE. We invest in the regeneration of soil. We buy without negotiation. If we can be more efficient in production, we pass savings on directly to customers. We share our profits with our employees. We also invest continuously in sharing our experience and in educating people directly. We go to kindergartens, schools and study groups. We give keynote speeches at universities and in companies. And we love it when we can inspire people to live a healthy, simple, natural and happy life in speeches, podcasts, magazines or interviews, and motivate entrepreneurs to create a healthy value chain.
