DATTELBÄR presents you with great, delicious, and quick recipe ideas for young and old. School can sometimes be quite challenging. That's when it's especially important to provide your body with healthy nutrients. Meals should be as balanced as possible and provide sustained energy. This not only improves concentration and memory but also calms our nerves.
Dates are a fantastic nutritional powerhouse.
Dates can provide the body with essential nutrients over a long period and are therefore known as the "bread of the desert." Important nutrients include zinc, calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium, as well as B vitamins and vitamin A. Potassium, in particular, helps the body convert and provide energy. This makes dates the perfect snack for those who are mentally active. The magnesium in dates promotes regeneration and relaxation and, together with zinc, supports our immune system.
Food for young and old, and our gut bacteria
Dates, while among the sweeter fruits, are packed with fiber. This means that sugar enters the bloodstream much more slowly and steadily, keeping insulin levels stable. This not only prevents cravings but also promotes regular digestion. Above all, the fiber is excellent food for our gut bacteria. Healthy and happy gut bacteria are key to both physical and mental well-being.
Dates in everyday school life (and at home)
Whether sweet or savory, dates are incredibly versatile. Here are a few delicious and simple ideas on how dates can sweeten everyday life for young and old alike.

Dates are delicious on their own, of course. Combined with cocoa, dates are reminiscent of a rich and luxurious chocolate. Our organic cocoa dates consist solely of dates coated in 100% Peruvian chocolate. Cocoa in its most natural form is incredibly healthy and rich in antioxidants and minerals.

Dates can also be used to make delicious granola bars and energy balls. The basic recipe consists of 50g of dates and 50g of ground nuts. This can be easily enhanced with coconut flakes, rolled oats, various seeds, or cocoa. The little balls will keep for about 5 days in the refrigerator and are an ideal, nutritious snack for school children, but also for their parents.

Jam, Nutella, and similar spreads are very popular, but not particularly healthy. Our date syrup is a great alternative to conventional spreads. You'll also find a delicious and healthy bread recipe on our blog. You can even make a healthy Nutella from date syrup. To do this, blend 100g organic hazelnut or almond butter, 20g cocoa powder, 60ml plant-based milk, 1 heaping tablespoon of date syrup, and a pinch of salt and vanilla. Pour into a jar and store in the refrigerator.

A porridge made with rolled oats, fruit, flax seeds, and dates is also very nutritious and delicious. You can get creative and combine all sorts of recipes to suit your mood. Oatmeal also tastes great cold, is quick to prepare, and provides energy all day long.
